To Quill the Mocking World

By Somya Tewari

I have forgotten you enough time now.
Just enough time to forget one digit of your ten digit phone number.
Just enough time to prevent my trained fingers from involuntarily dialing you.
Just enough time to catch my reason and let those other 9 digits slip away while I recollect the one missing digit.
Yes, I have forgotten you enough time now!
Did you ever meet someone and felt like reaching at 3.15 for a movie that started at 3.00?
Did you ever have to leave someone as reluctantly as leaving a movie at 4.25 when the climax is due at 4.30?
Feels stirring right?!
You know what is worse…sitting there in the hall even after the climax is over!

Did you ever miss someone as much as the train leaving at 6.30 and you reaching at 6.31?
Did you ever lose someone like a carelessly scribbled address?
Did you ever wish for someone like a 5 rupee coin, while staring at a 500 rupee note?
Did you ever pursue someone as the final result of the whole calculation in a mathematics paper before time ran out?
Have you ever missed someone like the money you don’t have for a round trip?

Loss…for me is now analogous to YOU!

Truly stirring.. Just so real, so close to life.. Yes we all have forgotten someone enough times now to forget just 1 digit of their phone number… And when we read this piece, we remember that person.
Loved the analogies, love the writing.

The depth! You make one think, feel and wonder while reading and then to continue thinking, feeling and wondering for a long time afterwards…Amazing 🙂
